AND SO IT HAD TO HAPPEN.....

added by Benn on October 20, 2010 at 20:22

Many have questioned why Flying Fish Hovercraft have headlights. After practising night and day the lap record is finally back where it belongs (41.97secs), with our one and only 'Stigg'. Well done Hayley Appleby, but with barely a fraction in it, now it's down to the race of champions in March. With pride on the line the gauntlet has been thrown down and it's time for everyone to show the skill that's needed to be top gun.

Remember when Rubens Barrichello did the Top Gear track faster than Ben Edw....sorry, 'The Stig?'

Well, talking of Ben's that have seen their 'untouchable' times beaten, congratulations to Hayley Appleby on being the first driver to unseat our own Benn Bristow's time around the Flying Fish 'HoverCross' track!

Benns pitifully slow time of 42.31 seconds was eclipsed by Hayley with a blistering 42.03 seconds - meaning she's practically guaranteed a place at The Race of Champions in March!

Well done Hayley - Benn's apparently using the Fish's headlights as he practices round the clock to try and reclaim his lead!

Welcome Aboard Ride Leisure!

added by russ on September 6, 2010 at 08:50

The boys at Ride Leisure have bought themselves a brand new orange and black Marlin II for their activity centre up at Milton Keynes. Having previously operated one of our competitors two-stroke hovercraft, they're chuffed to bits with how much money they're saving on fuel and as you can see from the video below, she moves a bit faster too and with the four stroke engine, reliability is assured! Ride Leisure offer pretty much the best activity centre available, choose from Hovercraft, microlight and aircraft flights, jet skis etc etc - well worth a visit! See their website at http://www.rideleisure.co.uk for more details. Welcome aboard chaps, we're delighted you're delighted!

Website problems!

added by russ on August 24, 2010 at 00:38

It's come to our attention that we've had a problem with the contact section of this new website.

Thats meant we haven't been receiving all the enquiries entered via the websites enquiry page.

If you've asked for details over the last few weeks and we've ignored you - now you know why! Obviously, we're more than a little put-out about it, and the problem's since been rectified. Its just one of those buggy problems that can afflict any new site, though one we should have spotted much earlier.

So, if it's effected your enquiry - please mail or call us and we'll attend to you immediately!

It's just not cricket!

added by russ on August 16, 2010 at 19:04

We've always said that there's no beach out of reach - but we even managed to stage a cricket pitch invasion at the 20/20 finals last weekend! Flying Fish were asked to supply two hovercraft for the winners display at this prestigious event. Before he left, Benn admitted he knows nothing abou tth egame, so we explained the rules to him.

"You have two sides, one out in the field and one in. Each man that's in the side that's in goes out, and when he's out he comes in and the next man goes in until he's out. When they are all out, the side that's out comes in and the side thats been in goes out and tries to get those coming in, out. Sometimes you get men still in and not out.

When a man goes out to go in, the men who are out try to get him out, and when he is out he goes in and the next man in goes out and goes in. There are two men called umpires who stay all out all the time and they decide when the men who are in are out. When both sides have been in and all the men have been out, and both sides have been out twice after all the men have been in, including those who are not out, that is the end of the game!"

Thus equipped, he felt ready to take part - anyway, Benn & Garry's involvement was thankfully restricted to Hovercraft operation (which they're good at) rather than covering loose balls at silly-mid-off (which they're not) but the sight of two craft buzzing round was a real crowd pleaser!

One thing that we were delighted about was the reaction of Sky TV who were televising the event. Having previously considered using craft, they'd tried out one of our competitors noisy two stroke hovercraft and simply couldn;t do so, due to the noise wiping out their audio. No such problems with the Flying Fish Hovercraft, following our demo a few days before, they were happy to go ahead and amazed at how quiet they were. In fact, take a look at the video and you'll find you can;t even hear them over the ambient noise!
